Now on its 12th year, the Miss Silka Philippines 2019 Coronation Night continues its mission to honor women whose beauty and grace embody the qualities of a true queen.
This year, Miss Silka Philippines 2019 aimed to serve as an inspiration to all Filipinas in removing the stigma from self-love, self-care, and independence.
"We want all Filipinas to know that self-care or 'alaga sa sarili' is essential. It is not about being wrapped up in oneself, as it strengthens and enables us to fully support and take care of others [our loved ones], contributing positively to community, society, and chosen advocacy," Eunice de Belen, Senior Brand Manager of Silka, said.
"Caring or 'alaga' has to start from within. Once you do that, you'll see how much more you can give 'alaga' to others," she added.
26 empowered candidates from the islands of Luzon to Mindanao eyed the Miss Silka Philippines 2019 title, but only one stood tall—Jaimee Nicole Manio from Pampanga.
After winning her first national pageant crown, Manio shared that she is promoting self-love to other women by loving herself first because she believes that she cannot promote something without practicing it.
"When you have self-love, you start to give love and care for other people. I always believe that we cannot give something that we do not have," she said.
As the Miss Silka Philippines 2019 title-holder gets a prize for her chosen charity, Manio aims to fulfill her personal mission to help the youth and all Filipinos with her "Read as one, Lead as one" advocacy.
"I want to make many children aware of the power of reading because many are into social media language nowadays and they often forget the real language we are used to," she said.
20-year-old Manio is expected to promote Silka products on television, radio, digital, on-ground activations, and guestings. Most importantly, people can look forward to seeing her fully embody Silka's goal of self-care and empowerment among women.
Other than the Miss Silka Philippines 2019 title, Manio won the hearts not only of the judges but also the crowd with her Best in Swimsuit award. Bulacan beauty, Angelica Corporal, who won first runner-up was also awarded with Miss Photogenic, Best in Evening Gown and Best in Talent.
Baguio's pride Ma. Izabel Lamberth, second runner-up, also bagged the Best in Casual Wear award, while national pageant first-timer Krisha Andrea Pekitpekit from Cebu was named as the third runner-up.
Other candidates were also given special recognitions such as the Miss Congeniality award to Jewel Alexandria Palacat of Ilocandia, Miss Juicy Cologne award to Kathlyn Camille Ybanez Lee of Davao, and the Popular Choice Award to Angela Milvie Bucu of Leyte.
Kapamilya star Angelica Panganiban, the newest face of Silka Green Papaya Soap, also graced the night with her appearance and uplifting message to the candidates. As a strong and beautiful Filipina, Silka believes that she embodies the "tunay na alaga sa sarili."
"Silka is all about self-care. For me, you can practice self-care by taking care of yourself. Do good things. Your self-care will reflect on the outside," Panganiban said.
The event was hosted by actress Yanah Laurel and Radio DJ Sean Kyle. R&B crooner Jason Dy serenaded the Miss Silka Philippines 2019 candidates.
Within 18 strong years, Silka has put many names into limelight with its nationwide pageant including Imee Hart who was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2016, Faith Garcia who joined both Mutya ng Pilipinas and Binibining Pilipinas, and esteemed singer Sitti Navarro.
According to Silka's Senior Brand Manager de Belen, being in the market for 18 years running is no easy feat, so they are thankful to their loyal customers who have been supporting Silka ever since. Their mission of giving 'ALAGA' is still their brand promise and driving force. Next year, Silka's vision for 2020 is clear.
