The Venice Grand Canal lights up as a grand Christmas parade is set to roll this Saturday in McKinley Hill.
The 3.5-kilometer parade, inspired by the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, features a lineup of 14 floats, 25 feet character balloons, over 50 mascots, and over 800 marching bands, dancers, and performers. It will start at 4:30 p.m.
Bringing star power to the annual spectacle are two bright names from Philippine entertainment: Jericho Rosales and Jessy Mendiola. They will be joined by other celebrities from the Metro Manila Film Fest (MMFF). Fans can see their idols as they make their way to the parade aboard one of the colorful floats.
Gigantic floats, each with its elaborate design, are expected to captivate parade onlookers as they make their way through McKinley Hill.
Spectators can watch out for the classic Christmas train, winter wonderland, and Santa house with chimney floats.
Not be missed is the OPM Float, which will have a special live performer on board.
Parade watchers can also look forward to balloons of beloved Christmas characters such as Gingerbread Man, Reindeer, Elf, Unicorn and Santa Claus -- each measuring 25 feet.
The parade will also feature a grand gathering of kids' favorite characters, such as Shopkins, Megablocks, Powerpuff Girls, Ben10, Vtech, Hatchimals, Tobot, and Vikings.
Kids can have their photos taken with these characters inside the Venice Grand Canal Mall right after the parade.
Joining these mascots are Christmas icons Santa Claus and his Elves.
Over 800 marching bands, dancers, and performers will add to the musical and visual spectacle of the parade.
Bringing holiday music to the parade are members of the AFP band, Banda de Banahaw, UST Drumline, and marching bands dressed in toy soldier costumes.
Venetian mimes and dancers, cosplayers, dragon and lion dancers, Korean cultural dancers, St. Louis LED performers, Zumba performers lead the roster of performers who will showcase their talents at different spots along the parade route.
Also joining the parade are athletes from Enderun Colleges, members of the Harley Davidson clubs, higantes of Buddy’s restaurant, members of the PNP and more.
Capping off the Venice Grand Canal Grand Christmas Parade is a grand fireworks display, which guests can witness at the front of the mall.
There will also be a Holiday Parade Express, where kids can meet and interact with their favorite mascots right after the parade.
The parade will begin at McKinley West and will take Lawton Avenue going down to Upper McKinley Road. The parade will then take a left turn at the Venetian Drive and pass through Turin Street before making another right turn at Campus Avenue. The parade will go back to Upper McKinley Road towards Tuscany before making a U-turn and head back to Venice Grand Canal.
