The battle for this year's UAAP Season 80 Cheerdance Competition (CDC) crown was a tough one, with the battleground evening out as squads somersaulted out into the field.

Eight competing teams battled over the CDC crown at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday, as students showed their school spirit and cheered for their favorite teams offline and online.

Social media was abuzz with calls for support for participating schools, as well as posts tagged #McDoBonFries from students eager to get the chance to win free McDonald's fries.

The online buzz was the perfect counterpoint to the excitement at the MOA Arena, where the audience was stunned by colorful costumes, breath-taking stunts, and stunning performances from the teams.

Check out each squad’s best moves:

While wracked by some errors, the National University Pep Squad's performance went swimmingly, with the dancers' sinuous moves keeping the audience in thrall.

The defending champions performed with an aquatic-themed routine as they attempted to garner a five-peat.

The DLSU Animo Squad took the crowd to the land of the rising sun, after performing their Japan-inspired routine.

Following the Green Archers, the Adamson Pep Squad blew away the arena with their 80’s-inspired performance, and even bringing their school crowd all in white.

Landing in the second spot last season, the Far Eastern University (FEU) Cheering Squad hit the floor with the elements of air, fire, water, and earth as they tried to snatch away the crown from the defending champions.

The University of the East (UE) Pep Squad also made a clean finish with their outstanding performance, raising red and white in a fiery routine.

The UP Pep Squad returned with a vengeance. After deciding not to participate in last year’s competition, the eight-time CDC champion stunned with a jaw-dropping comeback.

With their theme #KwentongIsko, the UP Pep Squad featured a routine that told the story of a UP student's daily life.

Showing that they will always have what it takes to make it to the CDC's topnotchers, another eight-time CDC title holder, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Salinggawi Dance Troupe, swept away the competition with a mind-blowing statement performance as they tried to reclaim the elusive throne.

Last but not the least, the Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion pulled off a fusion folk routine highlighting how much love they have for the Philippines.

Fans were ecstatic as Adamson Pep Squad won this year's UAAP CDC.

Online supporters were not left behind in the celebrations, as their barrage of tweets and comments were heard loud and clear by McDonald's!

They did not just bolster the hearts of their school team, but McDonald's too.

The team and their squad can enjoy FREE Medium Fries from December 4-8, 2017 from 3:00pm to 3:30pm at McDonald’s General Luna and San Marcelino branches.
