When thinking about what to wear for a party, a messy pile of rejected clothes may end up on the floor, but what to wear remains a question.
It may be safe to simply bring out the favorite go-to outfit and add a sparkly accessory. However, who doesn't want to walk in holiday parties feeling extra stylish as one poses for photos?
Editors of fashion magazine Metro have come up with tips on what to wear for holiday parties based on five different styles.
Here are handpicked outfits for days when one wants to feel glamorous, or for those times when one just wants to experiment on a look.

When you want to feel feminine but still have a bit of attitude, try an edgy look.
Edgy doesn't always have to be about wearing black, leather, and ripped jeans — or anything along those lines.
According to Metro editor-in-chief Geolette Esguerra, this can be "soft tailored pieces with deep V necklines and showing a bit of skin." To accessorize, tie a bold-colored silk scarf around the neck.
If clean lines and functionality speak to you, then the Classic trend is your go-to style.
SM Woman's latest collection kept some of its looks minimalist yet stylish with streamlined silhouettes such as monochromatic dresses, pencil cut trousers, and mock turtlenecks.
Plus, if you want to look taller and more put-together in time for all the holiday dinners, Metro Executive Editor and celebrity stylist Kat Cruz-Villanueva suggests you wear monochromatic outfits to create a long silhouette.
Ever tried to put-together random pieces of clothing and still look effortlessly good?
Pull off the Eclectic trend fearlessly "by way of mixing and matching prints [to give] a mishmash of textures and colors and lots of florals as well," says Esguerra.
For your upcoming Christmas party, try wearing a bow-collared blouse inside a textured dress and styling it with metallic heels. Besides, what's a party without frills and sparkly things?
For the stylish trendsetter, you're the most spontaneous one when it comes to dressing up.
SM Woman's holiday collection is also about the '80s maximalism trend.
"We’re talking about colors, strong silhouettes like strong shoulders, small waists—that type of '80s bold look," says Cruz-Villanueva.
Attending a glam holiday dinner? Wear bold colors or luxe prints and stand out the fashionista way!
Athleisure for Christmas? Why not?
"Now you can mix athletic wear with RTW to create a wearable yet presentable take on athleisure," Esguerra said.
To switch things up this holiday season, replace your favorite sneakers with white booties and a more sophisticated top to up your street chic style game.
The December rush (and traffic!) may be looming, but from Christmas dinners to New Year's Eve parties, these shopping picks make sure you stay chic and in style for the holidays.
