With the blurring of lines between work and home life, interconnectivity between smart devices has never been more convenient and helpful. The ability to work on your laptop in the morning and switch to a tablet in the afternoon, take calls with your smartwatch, and continue reading documents on your mobile phone has contributed to a stress-free, connected life.
This is something that tech giant Huawei understands and caters to. At the recently concluded Huawei Developer Day 2021, the company shared how it is strengthening its presence in its consumers' lives by providing a seamless AI life strategy backed by its intelligent Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) ecosystem.
The seamless AI life strategy provides users with an experience across multiple devices that are connected. It has access to its own software and hardware system for users to enjoy its benefits and features with privacy and security. This is a result of Huawei always gearing towards building an intelligently connected world for its customers.
Huawei invested one billion US dollars to encourage developer innovation and its HMS development. The brand is continuously developing its HMS ecosystem and just recently launched its HMS Core 6.0 version. It is also committed to developing new features to encourage developer innovation.
The tech giant is expanding its AppGallery and growing local app partners like GCash, KonsultaMD, and Wish 107.5. These key partners presented during the HDD forum and talked about how Huawei's AppGallery helped widen its audience. Partnering with local brands and companies in the Philippines allows the company to cater to the needs of its local customers while also providing a seamless AI life.
96% of top local apps are already part of Huawei AppGallery. It includes banking apps, e-wallets, shopping, media, entertainment, travel, lifestyle, finance, and productivity apps. The company is also active in growing its partner portfolio for Huawei Cloud. This move aims to help enable Filipino enterprises to digitalize their operations, adapting accordingly to the current situation.
Apart from all that, the company shared updates on its Harmony OS 2. It is one of the important parts of the Huawei ecosystem as products and devices using this operating system will be able to connect to other devices seamlessly. The new version of the Harmony OS 2 is now rolling out on phones, tablets, and smartwatches.
Here are the four Key Technology Breakthroughs of the Harmony OS 2:
Decoupled OS and hardware
With its decoupled and modularized technology in distributed OS architecture or a full-stacked decoupled architecture, Harmony OS 2 can be flexibly deployed to multiple devices.
Computers, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones can be connected for collaborative offices. Wearable gadgets such as smartwatches can also be in the loop.
Sharing capabilities between devices
With the Harmony OS 2, activities of isolated capabilities like display, camera, microphone, speaker, CPU, and GPS can be coordinated seamlessly across multiple devices.
Smooth and low latency
Giving the system precise resource scheduling and real-time app prioritizing is the Harmony OS deterministic latency engine. This brings the response latency to 25.7% and latency fluctuation to 55.6%, both having a downward response.
Develop once across devices
Another feature, the DevEco Studio allows developers to create one output that will be compatible with multiple devices. Meaning, developers no longer need to do their structure all over again. It also allows developers to create tagged widgets and adaptive UI layouts.
At the Huawei Developer Day, the brand also announced that Petal Search is being rolled out globally across all major Huawei devices. It is now being used by more than 170 countries, in 50 languages, and in 20 vertical categories. It is now a basic service in the HMS ecosystem.
Petal Search was updated and optimized to connect all local services for more interactive local options, which resulted in the creation of Petal Nearby.
Petal Nearby is a high-traffic portal that gives users access to local services. It brings together a wide range of options such as hotels, entertainment, salons, attractions, education, food and drink.
Petal Search Nearby Key Features include:
In-depth local life service experience
The Petal Search has an independent local business portal that gives users an in-depth local life service experience. The Nearby Portal consists of five main functions: banner area, search bar, service category field, topic ranking list, and recommended feed.
All-category customized service scenarios
From the Nearby Homepage, users will be directed to the Category Homepage where users can select their desired food type when searching for a restaurant. It will then go to Category Listing Page to Detail Page where users can filter their favorite food type or its prices. Restaurant Detail Page will then provide information like phone numbers, enabling users to book a table online.
The ultimate nearby merchant search experience
The search circle will complete the whole user journey. This will show users the whole list of things or places that they want to search. From the result box to the listing page, detail page, map, and direction page, all these are interconnected with each other to give users the ultimate nearby merchant search experience.
Other features of the Petal Nearby include categories like delivery, restaurant gallery, special offers or deals, jobs category, and taxi box. Merchants can connect to Petal Nearby through the Local Business Center where merchants can access data, update information, and interact with customers. This is specially meant to help SMEs thrive as they continue to face challenges of changing regulations and low sales amid the health crisis.
Furthermore, the Petal Search update aims to help local businesses connect to their consumers with help from its new features. A testament to Huawei's commitment to not only giving people a seamless AI life strategy through its developments and innovations but also bringing people closer together.
