Ovens are essential kitchen appliances. These are used often, if not every day, not only by professional chefs but even casual home cooks for baking, grilling, roasting, or simply reheating food.
Because ovens are efficient and easy to use, it is sometimes easy to forget that ovens can pose a risk if proper care and caution is not taken.
To ensure safety, here is a list of useful tips on how to properly handle this appliance.
1. Don't be messy.
It is important to keep one's oven clean because grease and residue buildup from cooking can ignite and cause fires. Ignoring the mess will make it so much harder to clean afterwards, not to mention that bad smell could not be really good for your health.
So should there be spills after use, wipe everything clean. If available, run the self-cleaning function of the oven before cooking again.
2. Don't line the bottom with foil.
Contrary to what others may say, lining the bottom of an oven with aluminum foil is not recommended to catch spills or food drippings.
Foil reflects heat and may interfere with the oven's efficiency. It can also block air flow which may cause serious problems like fire or carbon monoxide buildup. It is best to use a real pan or oven mat instead.
3. Don't use spray cleaners.
Cleaning sprays may seem effective, but they have a tendency to get into the electrical components of an oven, especially through the vents and around the knobs. Instead, it is better to wipe the oven with a damp cloth.
For a fresh smell, it is advisable to mix lemon with a cup of water, place in a pan in the oven, then heat for 30 minutes at 250 degrees.
Aside from practicing care and caution, make sure the oven is of excellent quality and has safety features for the best cooking experience.
Italian brand Tecnogas has released a Tabletop Cooking Oven to make this possible.
The TEO456MB is a heavy duty 45-liter oven that has 6-cooking functions with jet convection for even heat distribution and a sensormatic thermostat that provides accurate temperature for every meal.
This tabletop oven is designed with a matte black finish that is highly resistant to corrosion making it scratch- and stain-resistant.
The embossed back design provides more oven capacity, making it the biggest in its class.
It is also coated with an enamel cavity making it easier to clean, and it features a double layer low-emission glass door for better heat retention inside while greatly reducing heat on the oven door, making it safe to touch.
The Tecnogas Tabletop Oven comes with a one-year warranty on parts and service, which can be claimed in any of over 200 Tecnogas service centers nationwide.
