In the recent celebration of Philippine Wacoal’s 30th anniversary, the company featured 32 inspirational women who were introduced formally during the company’s Thanksgiving Dinner June 4, 2019. Afterward, these women were also highlighted in Wacoal’s five-day interactive exhibit entitled Wacoal’s Women of the World, from June 26 to 30, 2019, during which selected women were invited to share their inspirational stories.

"Apart from our number one goal to make women look and feel good by giving them the perfect fit underwear, this year, we want to do something bigger and live up to our mission by introducing the Women of the World. This campaign aims to inspire and empower women in all aspects of their lives and make them believe that there’s a lot of things in store for them and their dreams," said Ann Christine Palisoc, president of Philippine Wacoal Corporation.

Highlighted stories transcend the definition of women empowerment. Some of the featured women go against the traditional roles of the society and pushed towards their dreams despite many discouraging words thrown their way.

Others, despite having a comfortable life, still decided to woman-up, providing better opportunities for the people around them.

One of the featured women is the sports broadcaster and former international athlete, Dyan Castillejo. She has always been a strong advocate of working hard and doing everything it takes to reach all the goals that you have set for yourself.

Also featured is Aimee Hashim, a lifestyle consultant and owner of internationally renowned fashion enterprise, LoveLuxe Trading. She is bold in opening up about her own struggles and how she found her "real purpose" because of these challenges. In every talk that she gives, she encourages people to press on and keep going because she believes everyone is stronger than depression and anxiety.

Apart from inviting life-coaches, Philippine Wacoal also reached out to several women who have been doing conscious efforts in saving the environment. One of them is Zarah Juan, an advocate for strong social responsibility.

In an attempt to save the environment from excessive plastic waste, she manufactured Green Leaf eco-bags in 2007. She started from a plain katsa bag and a P15-per-hour sewing machine to put together all her creations. People eventually noticed a few pieces she carried around with her.

From this, Juan eventually collaborated with an indigenous community in creating bags, jackets, and other fashion wear to establish local products in the mainstream market and to give hope and helping hands to others as well.

It is hoped that the campaign encourages women to understand their potential and hone powerful, purposes lives that will advance not only themselves but also the others whose lives they will touch.
