Redefining 'Hope and Expectation' for staycations

It is perhaps no coincidence that the New World Makati Hotel lists its address as Esperanza St., Makati, as the name Esperanza connotes 'Hope and Expectation,' two things that are enthusiastically fulfilled each time one visits the hotel.

For our staycations, it would certainly be hard to find a Makati deluxe hotel more conveniently located -- right in the heart of the city.

Whether creating that staycation with the children, or making it a romantic getaway weekend for two; the New World Makati is that perfect retreat, where convenience, comfort and privacy are provided in equal measure by the hotel's great amenities and personalized service.

It's a modern hotel with marked Oriental influences -- 580 guest rooms and suites, and the Residences Club Deluxe Rooms are a joy as you can avail of their in-room check in and check out services. I know for those staying with kids, that feature of not having to watch over the children while checking out at the lobby is a godsend.

One of the great things about the New World Makati is its proximity to most of what you'd want to indulge in while in Makati. It's a stone's throw, or walking distance from, the major malls, museums, parks, and other places of interest.

During the weekend stay, you'll want to go shopping at Rustan's, SM Makati, Landmark, Greenbelt or Glorietta, and they're all at your doorstep -- Greenbelt just across the street.

There are the Legaspi and Salcedo Markets on the weekend; and the Ayala Museum stands just beyond Greenbelt. The Washington Sycip Park and its Japanese-inspired Garden beckons if you're looking for a place of quiet meditation. And there’s the Yuchengco Museum at the RCBC Tower on Ayala Avenue.

And when you're back in the hotel and feeling hungry, do head to Jasmine on the 2nd floor. It offers some of the very best in Chinese Cantonese cuisine. Their Dim Sum is a must, and I highly recommend their Beggar’s Chicken - you won’t get a hearty, healthy, home-cooking styled dish much better than this.

The Lounge is one exciting alfresco food and drinks outlet; and ask the friendly staff for tips on their specials, like their Gin Fest at Bar Rouge, and the rainy day 'hilot' specials at the Spa. There'll always be something going on to make your weekend stay that much more special and one-of-a-kind.

Because ultimately, these staycations are predicated on our hopes for making these weekend stays truly enjoyable, and that where we choose to go meets all our expectations. New World Makati Hotel aims to satisfy on those counts.
