Shopping is like giving yourself a mini pat on the back for a job well done - whether it is shopping for clothes, buying groceries or shopping for daily essentials such as: shampoo, conditioner, fabric conditioner and a lot more. It is somewhat feels fulfilling knowing that you are able to buy these things because you worked hard for them.
On the other hand, giving provides a greater sense of joy, fulfillment, and reward.
Giving is a mood-booster
Knowing that you have helped and impacted another person's life in return makes us feel happier. Maybe that is why some people live a lifestyle of giving because they cannot get enough of the sense of fulfillment and joy it brings them daily.
We find purpose in giving
Giving helps us revisit our personal values, goals, and it provides people a sense of life purpose. People naturally love to help others because of our nurturing nature. Most of all, we are able to appreciate what we have when we start giving.
It influences others to do the same
When people see another person giving, they too are encouraged to do the same. Giving spreads and people catch on. A small act can later on make an impact, but all we have to do is to begin.
That is what urged Unilever to begin their project of giving.
In 2018, Unilever pioneered the Shop2Give campaign. The following year, the company wanted to support 1.2 million out-of-school children and bring them back to school. As a result they established the Shop2Give campaign, the biggest Unilever-led single-day campaign in Lazada where Unilever donated 25% of their sales for the children.
In 2020, the campaign returned to bring inspiring hope to people while learning to adapt to the current health situation.
For that year Unilever and Lazada each donated 15% of their total GMV to help fund UNICEF's education programs. It has then enabled 800-K children to get back to learning.
Just last year, the number of beneficiaries grew to 102-K children. Through UNICEF's Alternative Learning System (ALS) education programs the children were thought according to their grade level and age. Moreover, around 3,000 families also benefitted via Gawad Kalinga's Barangay Walang Iwanan community development program. The families received care packages which helped improve their livelihood.
Some of our fellow Filipinos are still experiencing hardships, devastation caused by disaster, and illnesses that is why Unilever continues with their Shop2Give campaign to reach more people.
This year, the Shop2Give Together campaign in partnership with UNICEF gives customers up to 50% off on selected items on July 18, all-day free shipping, limited time vouchers, and exclusive freebies with every purchase, but best of all as shoppers buy items for their households and daily essentials such as, soap, shampoo, conditioner, fabric conditioner, etc. They are also donating proceeds to the Shop2Give Together campaign that can benefit children and families that are under the care of UNICEF.
Every purchase through the Shop2Give Together campaign may change lives and develop the lifestyle of families.
