The organization Girl Scouts of the Philippines has been around for decades, helping thousands of young girls discover their full potential and grow up as upstanding members of society. They are taught to do their duty to God and country, help people at all times, and live by the Girl Scout Law.

As the health crisis remains the biggest threat to humankind today, Girl Scouts can set a good example to their families and communities by getting vaccinated.

To help with this and boost the Department of Health's 'Resbakuna Kids' nationwide vaccination campaign, SM Supermalls partnered with the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) to provide these girls and their loved ones a safe space to get protection from the virus.

The nationwide vaccination drive was formally launched on April 2, 2022 at SM Megamall. It was held at the Mega Trade Hall which was decorated with a wonderland theme complete with mascots and balloons to entertain the young girls getting vaccinated.

Wearing their uniforms, girl scouts trooped to 56 SM Malls nationwide. Young girl scouts got their first vaccine dose while senior scouts got their booster.

The event is specially targeted towards children aged 5 to 11 and 12 to 17 as well as senior citizens so they can get the protection they need while also speeding up the vaccination rollout in the country.

''The Girl Scouts made their promise to serve God and our country and to help people at all times. You cannot help others if you are sick. We want everybody to be healthy and well,'' said GSP National President Nina Lim-Yuson. She also reiterated how important it is for everyone, even the children, to get vaccinated so they can serve their communities.

"Hinikayat ko 'yung mga co-girl scouts ko na magpabakuna na rin para sa safety nating lahat," Cadet Girl Scout Ma. Beatrix lareza shared when she got her vaccine at SM Megamall.

Before the vaccination day, GSP members must register with their respective local councils. Parents and guardians must also bring copies of any of the following documents: birth certificate, health records, school registration or ID, or baptismal certificate.

To date, SM has already aided in administering over 9.4 million doses of vaccines nationwide in its 78 mall vaccination sites. In addition to its ongoing efforts, they are prepared to welcome GSP's over 700,000 members starting April 2, 2022.

''We remain devoted to supporting the 'Resbakuna Kids' campaign of the Department of Health, and I think what is more important is being able to administer the vaccinations, particularly to the Girl Scouts of the Philippines who have not been vaccinated yet,'' said SM Supermalls Senior Vice President Joaquin San Agustin. ''We encourage everyone to get vaccinated and for those who were vaccinated to get their boosters. It is not only for the safety of the person [but it is also] for the safety of their families.''

DOH Usec. Myrna Cabotaje reminds Filipinos that vaccination drives like this is important to the country's continued recovery from the crisis."Importante ito para mapaalalahanan 'yung mga hindi pa nagpabakuna at mga kailangan ‘yung mga second dose at booster shots."
(This is important to remind those who have not been vaccinated and those who need second doses and booster shots.)

With this, both SM Supermalls and the Girls Scouts of the Philippines hope to encourage more people, especially the youth, to get vaccinated to protect themselves and their loved ones from the virus while also doing their duty to the nation.
