Celebrity mom Sofia Andres always looks stunning with her photos and bonding time with her three- year-old daughter Zoe, however, she shares that it is not easy to raise a child who loves being outdoors and is very outgoing.
At the age of three, children are usually still developing their brains – their social, emotional, cognitive, and motor skills. At this age it is important to support child with proper nutrition, enough sleep, and regular movement or exercise to help increase their overall health and grow up to be the best that they can be.
However, it is a challenge for some parents and guardians to juggle between career and taking care of their child, which is why it is crucial to get the most support in raising your child in their momentous years.
Andres, shares how she manages her time with her work and raising her three-year-old daughter Zoe.
In Magandang Buhay, host momshie Jolina Magdangal-Escueta asks Andres how she nurtures her daughter Zoe.
"For me, walang iisang solusyon talaga pagdating sa mga anak natin. Halimbawa, 'yung ibang mga bata they are into tablets and we cannot expect Zoe to be into that also. So, siya naman very outdoorsy, laro talaga siya sa labas," shares Andres.
(For me, there is no single solution when it comes to raising our children. For example, some children may be into tablets, but we cannot expect Zoe to be into that also. For her, she is very outdoorsy, she really plays outside).
According to a study, at the age of three, children notice others and join them to play. They talk well enough for others to understand them and they are also able to do several things for themselves like put on clothes and use utensils when eating.
In this exciting part of their growth, children need vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients to help support their advancement. Moreover, some children may also get stuck in consuming only one type of food that they have grown to like. That is why it is ideal to supplement their health with milk that may help aid their development.
Andres shares how she supports Zoe's active personality.
"Kaya pagdating sa gatas ni Zoe hindi puwedeng ipainom sa kaniya kung ano lang 'yung milk recommendation if it does not address her needs. For Zoe dahil nga she just turned three, 'yung tummy niya is still growing kaya kailangan niya 'yung milk na mas madaling ma-digest kaya I discovered 'yung milk na especially formulated with PHP," says Andres.
(When it comes to Zoe's milk, I do not just give her the recommended milk that does not address her needs. For Zoe, since she just turned three, her tummy is still growing which is why she needs milk that is easy to digest and is specially formulated with PHP).
Dr. Angelica "Lyca" Hilario, Pediatrician, explains that PHP is Partially Hydrolyzed Protein which is a type of protein with smaller molecules, which means that these proteins when compared to proteins that are from a cow's milk is much smaller and works well for children with sensitive tummies since PHP is much easier to digest.
"For context, 50% of Filipino children get tummy issues tulad ng abdominal pain. So, mahalagang masolusyunan 'yung mga ganitong problema kase kapag patuloy ang digestive issues nila maaaring maantala 'yung growth and development nila. So, a healthy digestive system means that maayos 'yung absorption nila ng nutrients through the food that they eat and dapat maaga pa lang nasasanay na sila with healthy eating habits para tuloy-tuloy yung kanilang learning and development and this is with proper nutrition and stimulation," shares Hilario.
(For context, 50% of Filipino children get tummy issues such as abdominal pain. So, it is important to solve this problem because if their digestive issues continue, it can affect their growth and development. So, a healthy digestive system means that there is proper absorption of nutrients through the food that they eat and at an early age they should be trained with healthy eating habits, so that their learning and development is continuous and this is with proper nutrition and stimulation).
Andres also shares that she chooses a milk for Zoe that has nutrients such as MFGM and DHA.
"Ang MFGM ay Milk Fat Globule Membrane, so nakatutulong ito sa pagsuporta ng cognitive development and this can aid in advancing their EQ and IQ. Ang DHA naman it helps in supporting brain growth, so as long as of course they have proper nutrition and stimulation," explains Hilario.
