Defending champion Roger Rederer guaranteed his place in the last four of the ATP world tour finals with a straight-sets win over Spain's David Ferrer.
The Swiss World No. 2 who is bidding for a record-extending 7th title at the end of season finale defeated Ferrer 6-4, 7-6.
Federer has now won his last 12 matches at the ATP World Tour finals.
Meantime, Ferrer's fate will be decided in the final round of group matches when he faces Janko Tipsarevic.
If he wins that and reaches the final he could replace Rafael Nadal as World No. 4. -- ANC Dateline Philippines, Nov. 9, 2012
