MANILA, Philippines – It was a full day for Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra as he trained aspiring hoop stars and bonded with NBA fans.

He started his day with an NBA Cares event at the Jose Rizal University, wherein he gamely taught the special Olympic kids his most fun basketball drills.

He then challenged some varsity players, and “Coach Spo” proved to be as intense with them as he is with Heat stars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

The NBA then opened up the Trophy Tour with an event at the SM North The Block, as Spoelstra brought with him the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Spoesltra gave the fans a chance to ask questions about him, his team, and even about his passion for Filipino basketball.

He also promised the Heat’s loyal fans that they will do whatever it takes to come back next year with another NBA championship. -- Dateline Philippines, ANC, August 5, 2012
