MANILA, Philippines – Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra is focused on mentoring young Filipino children during his 3rd visit to the Philippines.

The Filipino-American paid ABS-CBN's Umagang Kay Ganda a visit, and said that he and the NBA FIT team aim to teach young Filipinos about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

"We try to build habits at a young age, to learn how to exercise, to learn the importance of proper nutrition and to make healthy choices," Spoelstra said.

Spoelstra said NBA FIT uses basketball as a way to teach kids about the importance of exercise.

"But it can be any sport, even running," he added.

Spoelstra will continue to conduct basketball clinics in grade schools and high schools, and is set to visit his hometown of San Pablo, Laguna, later Thursday.

"We're trying to go to as many schools as we can," he said.

He also invited the Filipinos to participate in NBA FIT run on Sunday.
