MANILA, Philippines – The National University (NU) Bulldogs crushed the University of the East Red Warriors, while the Far Eastern University (FEU) rallied to stun the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers in the opening day games of the UAAP Season 75 Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

The Bulldogs leaned on Bobby Ray Parks Jr.’s all-around brilliance to rout the Warriors, 90-55, in what was the biggest winning margin of an opening day game in the UAAP in 10 years.

In the second game, the Tamaraws rallied from a double-digit deficit and Season 74 MVP RR Garcia provided the game-winning basket for FEU, who beat the Tigers 73-72.

UST’s Aljon Mariano had a chance to win the game, but his floater hit iron and FEU escaped with the win.

NU is hosting the UAAP Season 75, with the theme “Unbreakable at 75.”

During the opening ceremonies, it was former President Fidel V. Ramos who stole the show, as the NU alumnus re-enacted his famous "jump" in the 1986 EDSA revolution. -- ANC, July 15, 2012.
