MANILA, Philippines – The 75th season of the UAAP, deemed “Unbreakable,” is all set to begin at the brand new SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena.

The new NBA-style arena can accomodate over 14,000 paying fans.

Four-time defending champion Ateneo is once again the favorite this season, with a nearly intact line-up led by stars Greg Slaughter, Nico Salva and Kiefer Ravena, along with the comebacking Ryan Buenafe.

This year’s host, the National University Bulldogs, are also expected to compete for the championship.

The team, backed by SM, has reigning Most Valuable Player Bobby Ray Parks Jr., and boasts one of the strongest line-ups in school history.

NU will face the University of the East Red Warriors in the season opener at 2:00 p.m., and the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers will tackle the Far Eastern University Tamaraws in the second game.

The games will be aired live over Studio 23. -- Dateline Philippines, ANC, July 10, 2012.
