MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxers Albert and Jason Pagara scored knockout victories in their respective bouts in Pinoy Pride 26 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City on Saturday evening.
Jason Pagara got off to a quick start as he knocked down Mexican opponent Mario “Rocky” Meraz in the opening round, but Meraz was able to survive and forced the older Pagara into a slugfest.
Meraz and Pagara traded blows for three more rounds until the Filipino unleashed a volley of punches in the final 10 seconds of round four that again sent the Mexican to the canvas.
Meraz was able to beat the 10-count, but referee Danrex Tapdasan put a stop to the contest nevertheless after seeing that the boxer was walking unsteadily.
Meanwhile, Albert Pagara won his own fight quickly, knocking out Huge Partida of Mexico at the 1:18 mark of the first round.
