MANILA, Philippines – Mexico’s female taekwondo stars are intensely training for medals in anticipation of the 2012 London Olympics.

Mexico’s top female taekwondo athlete, Maria del Rosario Espinoza, is hoping for a gold medal repeat when she heads to London for the 2012 Olympics.

Espinoza, who took gold at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, will compete in the 69-kg and up event.

The Olympian said she’s trying to maintain her focus and perspective.

Espinoza’s less experienced teammate, Janet Alegria, will compete in the 49-kg and lower event in London that begins on August 18. Mornings @ ANC, June 18, 2012.
