MANILA, Philippines – American boxer Timothy Bradley stunned the sports world when he pulled off a shocking upset victory against Filipino ring icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao in Las Vegas last Saturday (Sunday in Manila).

In what was a thrilling fight from start to finish, Bradley defeated Pacquiao via split decision, with scores of 113-115, 115-113 and 115-113.

Bradley is now the new World Boxing Organization welterweight champion, and remains undefeated through 29 professional fights, while at the same time ending Pacquiao’s 15 fight winning streak over the past seven years.

Members of Team Pacquiao, including trainer Freddie Roach and promoter Bob Arum, were stunned with the decision, while Pacquiao was likewise surprised but said he respected the result.

Bradley came to the post-fight press conference in a wheelchair, saying he sprained both feet early in the fight.

A smiling Pacquiao, meanwhile, urged everyone to accept the decision, but added that he wants a rematch. Headstart, ANC, June 11, 2012.
