MANILA, Philippines – Champions League titleholders Chelsea FC paraded through the streets of West London to show off their new trophy to their fans.

Supporters waving white and blue flags and banners lined up the streets to cheer the players and other club luminaries, who were riding two open-topped double-decker buses.

Chelsea took Bayern Munich to a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Stadium and then beat the German team on penalties, 4-3, to take home the coveted title.

Ivorian striker Didier Drogba – who scored Chelsea’s solitary goal at the 88th minute and took the winning penalty kick – is considered the hero of the team by many of the fans along the route.

Chelsea not only stopped Bayern from winning the title for a fifth time, they also became the first London side to win Europe’s top club competition in its 57-year history, and the third English team to beat Bayern after Aston Villa in 1982 and Manchester United in 1999.
