MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines continues to make strides in taekwondo – one of the 10 "focus sports" outlined by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

In the recent 2nd Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, Team Philippines finished in fourth place overall, coming home with a gold, two silvers and a bronze medal.

Jean Pierre Sabido, Galilee Tinaya and Marvin Gabriel beat rivals from host Vietnam, Chinese-Taipei and Iran for the title in the men’s team under-29.

Meanwhile, the country’s former world champions Rani Ortega, Janice Lagman and Camille Alarilla, fell short in the distaff side and settled for second place behind Vietnam. Mornings @ ANC, May 10, 2012.
