Recently, Russia, a military powerhouse, has been flexing its diplomatic muscles and expanding its partnerships in Asia.

Historian Manolo Quezon explains that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Russian President Vladimir Putin are poised to open up economic relations as the United States slowly moves to the background in Asia and as China aggressively asserts its supremacy in the region.
“They are poised to open up relations by focusing on economic agreements that build trust to find a win-win to the question over Japanese territory seized by Russia after World War II,” he said.
