Sen. Richard Gordon is keen to look into the possibility that drugs confiscated in anti-narcotics operations are not destroyed but recycled for distribution.

At the continuation of the Senate inquiry into drug smuggling and corruption at the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Wednesday, Gordon said he would draft a resolution calling for an investigation on the possible recycling of seized illegal drugs.

The senator, chair of the Senate blue ribbon committee, cited research showing that media reports of seized drugs do not correspond with the tally of destroyed narcotics.

"Ang nasusunog [na droga] ay hindi nagta-tally. This opens the case to suspicion na pinapaikot ang droga o pinapalusot -- I think that is a fair thing to conclude kung hindi talaga maipaliwanag iyan," Gordon said.
