Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano has told U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson that the Philippines is open to an independent probe into the Duterte administration's war on drugs and has nothing to hide.

Cayetano met with Tillerson in Washington Wednesday.
"We have nothing to hide and that we are ready to work with experts or observers as long as they are independent and fair,” he said.

Cayetano said the Philippine government will welcome independent and fair observers or investigators to take a closer look into the illegal drug problem and government's campaign to eradicate it.

"We would welcome experts if they can assure us they would not politicize the investigations because we want to make sure the outcome would be credible,” he said.

Cayetano said the probe should not be politicized, to ensure a credible outcome.

The meeting between Cayetano and Tillerson comes ahead of the East Asia Summit scheduled in November in Manila. – The World Tonight, ANC, September 28, 2017
