MANILA - Sen. Risa Hontiveros on Wednesday said she could accept an apology from Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II but added that she was not the only target of his "offenses."

Hontiveros said this after Aguirre was caught on camera texting a lawmaker about expediting cases against her. While he did not address the controversial content of the message seen on his phone, he hit the senator for making it public.

"Kaya ko tumanggap ng apology. Kung sa akin lang 'yung offense, of course dapat sasapat na 'yun. Pero the offense wasn’t against me alone," she told ANC's Headstart.

She said she recounted some of Aguirre's "offenses and sins of omission" in her privilege speech Monday, where she asked the secretary to step down.

"Palagay ko ang offended party ay 'yung mamamayang Pilipino dahil ang opisina niya ay Justice Secretary at dapat magde-deliver siya ng justice for all," she said.

"Hindi po niya ginawa 'yun, hindi niya ginagawa 'yun, which is why I used very serious language na 'yung patuloy na panunungkulan niya bilang Justice Secretary is a vulgar insult to the Filipino people’s effort for a more just society," she added.
