MANILA - Ozamiz City police chief Jovie Espenido said he ordered his men to stop CCTVs in the homes of the Parojinog family from recording the July 30 raid to protect the identity of their confidential agent.

"Totoo 'yun yung CCTV, yung camera. Order ko talaga 'yan na 'yung iba i-down, ipataas, ang iba kunin niyo; nasa blotter naman yan natin...Concerned ako sa confidential agent namin, yung taga-turo na mga kapitbahay nila, na sila ang magturo kung saan, sino ang mga tao na involved," he said.

The police chief noted a female "witness" they had tapped for a buy-bust operation against Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr.'s neighbor two months ago was shot dead near the mayor's house.

Espenido said the witness was identified through the house's CCTV camera.

"Sino pa ang mag-witness kung pabayaan lang namin sa security nila? Yung CCTV naman, as long hindi mo kunin yung hard drive, wala man problema. Para lang hindi lang tayo makita. Baka magbalik yung pag-brownout, babalik na pag-light, so makunan yun," he said.

The series of raids in the Parojinog homes resulted in the deaths of 16 people including Mayor Parojinog and his wife, Susan. Their daughter, Vice Mayor Nova Princess, and son, Reynaldo Jr., were also arrested.
