The Presidential Communications Operations Office is eyeing a social media policy that will give bloggers a bigger role as information drivers under the Duterte administration.

Communications Assistant Secretary Kris Ablan said part of the proposal is to allow accredited bloggers to cover official Malacañang events.

Under the proposed policy, an online personality needs to have at least 10,000 followers or subscribers for him or her to be accredited.

"Right now, the proposal is 10,000. We understand during the consultations that some sectors want it higher and I told you last week that we have referred the policy to assistant secretary Mocha Uson for her to make a decision on how to determine reach," Ablan said.

He also said that the draft social media policy would be non-partisan and "should not distinguish between pro-Duterte supporters and those who are critical of the President."

He also said that these bloggers will not be integrated into the Malacañang Press Corps.
