Aguirre guarantees De Lima's safety under arrest
Justice Vitaliano Aguirre II on Wednesday dismissed Senator Leila de Lima's fears that her life may be in danger if she is placed under arrest in connection with the drug cases filed against her.
De Lima on Tuesday appealed to be placed in a "safe and secure" place should an arrest warrant be issued against her, saying she may be slain while detained.
What is another case of EJK?" she said.
(If it happens, God forbid, I hope I would be placed in a somewhere safe and secure. A lot happens in jail cells. What is another case of EJK?)
The opposition lawmaker also earlier alleged that Aguirre is rushing the filing of charges against her for her supposed involvement in the Bilibid drug trade.
The justice secretary denied the allegations, saying: "Lahat ng tao sa Facebook nagtatanong, kailan daw, pagkabagal-bagal daw natin.
(Everyone on Facebook is asking us about when we would resolve the case, they said we're too slow. That's why I wonder, how could they say we're rushing, when I've been deluged with complaints for us to work faster.)
