The presence of Korean nationals in Baguio fuel the trade of dog meat in Baguio.

The meat of dogs, whose slaughtering is considered illegal in the Philippines via the Animal Welfare Act of 1998, is already a popular delicacy among local residents, and the growing Korean population is seen to boost the meat trade in the city.

One of the popular dishes among Koreans is the "Boshingtan", a soup that includes dog meat as its primary ingredient.

Health officials, however, are warning consumers against eating dog meat due to a lack of regulatory measures.
