MANILA, Philippines – Four people have died from diarrhea in the province of Camarines Sur, according to health officials.

Three of the victims are residents of Brgy. La Purisima in the town of Nabua. They were identified as Cornerlio Espalmado, Aurelio Nagales and Tering Lomeda.

One of the victims, identified as Jesus Daliva, was from Brgy. Sto. Domingo.

Authorities said at least 70 others have been affected by the illness.

Several residents said that while the town’s source of drinking water is clean, water from its wells used to wash plates and kitchenware may have been contaminated.

“’Yung balon malapit sa CR kaya posibleng diyan nagmumula,” said Aurora Beltran, one of the residents of Brgy. La Purisima.

Health workers continue to remind the residents to boil drinking water and wash hands regularly to prevent the spread of the illness. -- Report from Jonathan Magistrado, ABS-CBN News Bicol
