What initially seemed like a firecracker set off last night in EDSA-Cubao turned out to be a grenade explosion.

Catherine Esquivel, who was riding a Nafti bus, was among those injured after she was hit by a shrapnel.

The bus that Esquivel was riding in was 10-meters away from the stall where the hand grenade landed. Aside from her, four others were hurt in the blast.

Authorities are eyeing a local fight as the motive for the attack.

The Quezon City Police are now conducting follow-up operations to arrest the suspects.

Meanwhile, the bus company paid for the hospital bills of the victims.
