MANILA, Philippines - The Metro Manila Development Authority reports its yellow lane policy has reduced accidents along EDSA.

On ANC's Talkback, MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said in the span of a week, the number of accidents went down from 44 to just 6.

Tolentino added his agency had anticipated the heavy traffic flow but the blame goes to an oversupply of buses.

"The carrying capacity of that bus lane was just 1,600 buses. Now we have 5000+ city buses plying that route not to mention the 7000+ provincial buses also utilizing those lanes. So we have to consider all of this," he said.
