MANILA, Philippines - Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo on Monday said he wants local government units to have a more unified system in announcing class suspensions.

Robredo said he will issue a memorandum asking state weather bureau PAGASA to coordinate closer with LGUs especially when a typhoon looms.

He said a "more unified, more organized" system would be better achieved through the help of the media.

"At least this morning, our impression was people were better informed through media instead of a hotline of different LGUs," he said.
