A security guard of a construction site shot dead a suspected thief in Caloocan City before dawn Thursday.

The thief allegedly attempted to take some valuables at the construction site.

Foreman Melvin Hernandez said security guard Ryan Bacong told him that he shot the suspect after catching him stealing some items.

Bacong surrendered his gun to Hernandez and immediately left the construction site after the shooting.

Hernandez said it was not the first time that thieves broke into the construction site. He said they were robbed of two DVD players and a cellphone last month.

Bacong, meanwhile, is now being hunted by the police for possible homicide charges. – Umagang Kay Ganda, May 31 2012
