Following the death of five people at a concert in Pasay City, presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte said that once he assumes office, he will order the deployment of anti-narcotics agents at concert venues.

"We cannot prohibit people to assemble at a certain place, crowd together, but we can always regulate in the sense that… frisking is not allowed before they enter the area, that's too fascistic. We'll scatter government security to smell around and arrest immediately," he said.

This comes amid speculations the deaths were caused by illegal drugs spread at the concert.

Initial investigation revealed that two of the five fatalities from Close-up's "Forever Summer" concert suffered heart attack. Police were investigating reports that drugs were distributed to the concert-goers.

Duterte expressed sympathies for the fatalities in the event, adding however that it is not uncommon for drugs to be passed around "like candies" during such events.

"Usually iyung mga ganoong mga music, rock-rock concert, diyan talaga lalabas ang mga droga. They pass it around... parang candies," he told reporters in Davao City.
