At least 4 robbers stormed a jewelry store at the ground floor of the SM Megamall Department Store on Saturday night.
Initial investigation shows the suspects used a pipe wrench purchased inside the mall to break into the store.
No one was hurt in the incident.
Police are still determining how much jewelry was stolen.
Security personnel initially shut down parts of Megamall, causing panic among shoppers. Eastern Police District Head, Chief Superintendent Miguel Laurel said one of the suspects fired a gun to scare off people and to escape.
Police are still on the hunt for the suspects.
SM Supermalls President Annie Garcia said CCTV footage of the mall and the department store will be reviewed.
She said SM will cooperate with the authorities in the investigation. -- The World Tonight, ANC, January 26, 2013, Saturday
