MANILA, Philippines - Former senator Jamby Madrigal on Thursday said she has nothing personal against Sen. Manny Villar despite her word war against the senator during the 2010 presidential election.

Speaking to ANC, Madrigal said her word war against Villar in 2010 was not a battle of personalities but principles. Villar and Madrigal were rivals for the presidency during that election.

"It was not a personal battle against Senator Villar. It was more a battle of issues and principles and I would do it again because I believe I was doing what was right for the Filipino people. Now, it is time to unite the parties to push for the greater agenda," she said.

The former senator, meanwhile, said she feels no awkwardnesss in being on the same senatorial slate as that of Villar's wife, former congresswoman Cynthia Villar.

She said she and the Villars shook hands during the presentation of the Liberal Party senatorial line-up last Monday.

"I don't feel there is so much hard feelings. It's not personal for me. At the moment, I don't feel anymore awkward situations. I think we are trying to have a party of unity. We have to focus on the positive advancements for the future," she said.
