MANILA, Philippines -  The Supreme Court has voted 11-3 to uphold the validity of government’s P1.8-billion deal for the purchase of precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines for next year’s midterm national polls.

Eleven SC justices upheld the Comelec's purchase of some 82,000 machines used in the 2010 polls. Only 3 justices dissented.

The SC also lifted a temporary restraining order on the PCOS deal.
