MANILA, Philippines - Lawyers of Chief Justice Renato Corona deny the defense team is breaking apart.

Corona critic Prof. Harry Roque posted on Facebook and Twitter that Corona legal spokeswoman Karen Jimeno has gone missing while defense lawyer Judd Roy is withdrawing as counsel.

Queries from Roque's followers, however, went unanswered but defense team spokesperson Karen Jimeno has clarified they are not abandoning the Chief Justice.

In fact, she said she and Attorney Roy were in a meeting when they received word about these reports.

"I was there the whole day...obviously it was an inaccurate tweet," he said.

Jimeno said the team has been meeting with Corona the past days to prepare him for his testimony.

She added the defense has also been working with experts and accountants to analyze the report of the Anti-Money Laundering Council on Corona's alleged dollar accounts.

The defense team is now certain that Corona does not have 82 accounts.

Jimeno said there may be no need for Corona to sign a waiver on his alleged dollar accounts anymore since the Chief Justice will be taking the witness stand.

"We think he can answer all the issues...if we call the bank managers again, we will be accused of delaying the proceedings further," he said.
