MANILA - Presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte on Monday announced that he is considering three candidates to lead to the Philippine National Police.

The three are Chief Insp. Ramon Apolinario, Chief Insp. Ronald dela Rosa, and Senior Superintendent Rene Aspera - all former police chiefs in Davao City.

"They have rendered sterling performances in Davao. They are honest, not corrupt and they follow orders," Duterte said in describing his top picks during a press conference in Davao City.

He also underscored the need for integrity and compassionate attitude among the ranks of PNP while being "passionate about the war against drugs."

"If you are lukewarm about drugs, do not apply," he said.
