MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago on Monday urged the Senate impeachment court to invite branch managers of 9 banks to testify in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Santiago noted that a branch manager is required by law and standard banking policy to seek details about the client. She said that because of the volume of transactions in Corona’s alleged dollar deposits, it is possible that a single sum of money can be represented in a double entry.

Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile said the motion will be discussed in caucus on Monday.

The Senate has also moved to strike out the testimony of Commission on Audit Commissioner Heidi Mendoza yesterday.
