MANILA, Philippines - Former President Joseph Estrada registered at the Commission on Elections as a bonafide voter of Manila where he intends to run for mayor next year.

Estrada, a long-time resident and mayor of San Juan, transferred Wednesday to Manga Avenue in Santa Mesa, Manila.

He will be going up against incumbent Mayor Alfredo Lim in the 2013 elections.

Estrada, 75, was born in Tondo, Manila in 1937.

He was elected mayor of San Juan in 1967 and served for 17 years. He was elected senator in 1987 and vice-president in 1992. In 1998, he was elected President of the Republic but his term was cut short in 2001 after the EDSA Dos revolt.
