MANILA - Philippine National Police chief Alan Purisima says he agrees with President Aquino's decision to veto a bill that removes the height requirement in the PNP, Bureau of Fire Protection and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.

But Purisima says while the PNP wants to lower the current height requirement of 5 feet and 4 inches for men and 5 feet and 2 inches for women, there is still a need to put specific height requirement for persons who want to join the PNP.

"Sa akin pong pananaw ay may pagkukulang yung batas. kasi po nung aking initerpret yung batas kasi kahit 1 foot ka lang ay pwede kang maging pulis. Kasi wala pong lower limit," he said.
