MANILA - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Employees Union is disappointed that President Aquino did not appoint insiders as the new commissioners of the poll body.

Mac Ramirez, national president of the Comelec Employees Union, said they had wanted at least one insider to join the Commission since insiders do not need to adapt to the work. The union earlier backed lawyers Ferdinand Rafanan and Alexander Pilotin for the position.

Ramirez said he had heard reports that President Aquino interviewed only 3 people for the position.

"Nagtatampo kami na 3 lang ang in-interview ni President Aquino for the position. There were many nominations and applications so we don't know why he only interviewed 3. It is important for the employees to have some representation in the commission," he told ANC TOP STORY.
