MANILA, Philippines -- Malaysian security forces are taking a "wait-and-see" approach on the Sabah standoff.
Malaysian news portal The Star Online reports negotiations continue with the group of Rajah Muda Kiram although the Friday deadline to deport them had expired.
A Malaysian deputy prime minister is quoted as saying the cautious approach being taken is evidence of the Malaysian government's capability to deal with any situation, adding everything possible is being done to work out a peaceful solution to the "sensitive" problem.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin also stressed it is crucial that the standoff be resolved without any bloodshed.
