MANILA - The United Nationalist Alliance on Friday said it will not adopt Jesus is Lord Movement founder Eddie Villanueva, Makabayan Coalition bet Teddy Casiño and Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn as guest senatorial candidates of the coalition.

In a statement, UNA campaign manager Toby Tiangco said the coalition "holds in high regard the candidacies" of the 3 candidates but added "UNA has not officially made and will not make an offer for them to join us as guest candidates."

Speaking to ANC, Tiangco said UNA did not remove its 3 guest candidates - Loren Legarda, Francis Escudero and Grace Poe-Llamanzares - just to replace them with 3 new candidates. UNA dropped the 3 common candidates for their failure to join the coalition's sorties.

"The main reason we removed the three at least for me as campaign manager I do not want any more things that will slow us down. We just want to concentrate on the 9 [UNA] candidates. We don't want anymore distractions," he said.
