MANILA, Philippines - Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes is asking retiring Commissioner Rene Sarmiento and Armando Velasco if they could act as consultants of the poll body.
Brillantes made the request to the commissioners until such time that President Aquino names their replacements.
Sarmiento and Velasco are due to retire tomorrow.
Brillantes said there is a huge amount of work to be done for the midterm elections this May. He said it would be ideal if President Aquino could immediately appoint two commissioners but said he does not want to put pressure on the Chief Executive.
