MANILA -- The holiday season is fast approaching and with it, comes countless office parties and family get-togethers.

A lot of businesses prepare for the month of December as people are generally able and willing to spend.

Vina Geronimo, general manager of Wowlu Catering Services says they can barely keep up with the demand. "May mga araw na tumatanggap kami ng up to 20 events."

The Department of Health, however, reminds those in the food industry to be responsible in preparing food.

"Obligasyon 'yan ng nagke-cater to make sure that whatever they're preparing, ay nasa maayos at nasa tamang pamamaraan," says Dr. Lyndon Lee Suy from DOH.

Germs may also come from dishes and utensils used in the preparation of food if they are not cleaned properly. Norovirus, salmonella and listeria are just some of the common bacteria that could potentially thrive on the surface of dishes and pans.

Geronimo understands this. That's why they are very strict with regards to food safety and cleanliness.

"Kasi mahirap nang malusutan ng germs kaya ang ginagamit naming mga product 'yung may antibacterial property."
