Erroneous Nepal report on Robredo crash goes viral

An article from a Nepalese news website has been making the rounds in local Twitterverse.

Nepalnews.com reports about the plane crash involving Secretary Jesse Robredo, Capt. Jessup Bahinting and Nepalese co-pilot Kshitiz Chand.

But the report said 14 people were killed in the crash, even increasing the number of passengers to 34.

The Nepalnews.com article may have been plagiarized from British paper The Daily Mail, which reported about a 2002 plane crash in the Philippines.

A comparison of the two articles shows similar paragraphs such as the rescue of 16 passengers and the amateur video footage showing a trail of smoke.
