Magdalo Representative Gary Alejano said they are now working on the number of signatures required for their impeachment case against President Rodrigo Duterte to prosper.

In an interview with ANC's Early Edition, Alejano, who filed the first impeachment rap against the popular leader last week, agreed that "regardless of the contents of the complaint, it will boil down to the numbers game."

Alejano and his group believes the congressional recess will be the right opportunity to talk to the lawmakers.

"I believe that members of the House are freedom-loving Filipinos as well, and they know what is happening in the country right now," he said.

He noted, the dynamics at the lower chamber had been characterized by the removal of anti-death penalty House leaders from their plum posts.

But the former soldier is positive the outcome will be different when they resume session and tackle his impeachment complaint.

"It will figure differently in the impeachment case. I think come May 2, we will see the landscape," he said.
